Iona West Mens Shed

... a place for men to meet for activities, projects, mentoring and support.

Situated behind Iona-West Uniting Church, 7 Brooks St, West Mackay, Iona West Mens Shed is currently open Mondays from 1pm to 4pm, Tuesdays 9am to 4pm, Wednesdays 9am to noon (Retirees' Group) and 1pm to 4pm, and Saturdays 9am to 1pm.

Activities include project work, health information, social activities and barbecue lunches.

Men's Breakfast

The Iona West Man's Breakfast is held on the first Saturday of every month except January, at 7:30am in the Iona West Hall at 7 Brooks St West Mackay. There is an admission fee of $5 for a hot brekky, guest speaker and an opportunity to mingle with positive, community-minded men. Visitors and new members are always made to feel welcome and the Men’s Shed will be open afterwards for those wanting to stay on.

The guest speaker at our next Men’s Breakfast, to be held on Saturday 7 July 2018, is Allen Soxsmith, pastor for the Pioneer Valley and Eungella Uniting Churches. Allen began theological studies late in life at Trinity College in Brisbane and completed online studies with Adelaide College of Divinity for a broader attitude to his Christian walk as they cater for Anglican, Roman Catholic and Uniting Church denominations. Allen’s talk will endeavour to find a link between "crows", the birds; Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov better known as "Lenin" and playing hide and seek with God.

We look forward to seeing you for an enjoyable breakfast with great fellowship and an interesting guest speaker - all for only $5.

George Street Neighbourhood Centre is allowing us to use their bus for pickups for the monthly men’s breakfasts. To arrange transport please email Mike Fry.

Don't forget the Men's Shed will be open after breakfast from 9am. Please let others know and an RSVP to mensbreakfast@ionawest.org.au would be appreciated to assist with catering.

We hope to see you there.

Retirees' Group

In addition to our standard opening hours, we now have an active Retirees' Group that meets every Wednesday morning from 9am to midday. All retirees welcome, we're always looking for new and exciting projects to work on. Please contact our Coordinator Chris McAdam on 0432 983 181 for more information.
